The Annex, an Art Initiative by The Gund at Kenyon College, is pleased to present Think Far, a group exhibition showcasing 12 emerging and mid-career artists living and working in Accra, Ghana whose practices challenge dominant Euro-American ideologies about what it means to get along with those who have diverging values, beliefs, or appearances.

The Ghanaian artists in this exhibition challenge us to “think far” (tunani nisa in Hausa and dwene akyiri in Twi). Broadly speaking, to think far means to journey to-and-fro in the imagination, seeking a way forward in antagonistic or otherwise painful social situations. By traveling back in time to access ancestral wisdom and then forward to try on possible futures, this activity has the capacity to assuage anger, boost patience, or multiply perspectives.

On view at The Annex in Spring 2025 (with a visit from some of artists themselves April 7-15, 2025), this exhibition is guest curated by Assistant Professor of Anthropology, Emily Ibrahim and Ghanaian artists in partnership with Dr. Jodi Kovach, The Gund’s Pamela and Christopher Hoehn-Saric Deputy Director of Curatorial Affairs and Education and Wynne Morgan, The Gund’s Coordinator of Engagement and Public Programs for The Annex.

With support from Kenyon College and the Dr. Newton Chun Award.
