Join us in the gallery during common hour on Tuesday, November 19, and Thursday, November 21, and choose your own adventure through the fall exhibitions with the Gund Associates! Members of the Gund Associates Visitor Experiences team will conduct Art Story Tours, unique narrative excursions through the galleries. Each Associate has developed an Art Story Tour that thematically links three works of art on view, opening multiple compelling ways of experiencing the exhibitions.
Tours today include: Julia Wartman Motion in the Gallery This tour will highlight three works in the gallery that capture movement in different ways and will discuss the ways that viewers are included in these depictions.
Ella Demak Individual Subjects: Content or Unhappy? This tour will focus on how three works in the gallery address singular subjects – and whether or not these subjects are happy with themselves and/or the world around them.
Amelia Kovach Embodied Audience: Experimenting with Movement This tour will explore the physical relationship between one another and the art. How do we influence each other’s experience?
Yehor Shyrokyi Seeing the Accidental: Looking Beyond Artists Intentions Oftentimes when creating, the results surprise even the authors. This tour will focus on three works of art at The Gund, and things that we can see that might not have been the artist’s intentions.
Othon Welsh Reverence of Space Space is the most omnipresent reality, as well as the most overlooked. This tour will try to make sense of what it means to inhabit space through three art pieces, and the insights of each artist. And hopefully bringing an appreciation for the exhibition and the spaces/space we inhabit.
Gillian Perry Reflections of the Self Through Beauty This tour will examine three works in the gallery as part of a narrative which will prompt visitors to examine how works of art can, through beauty, lead to self-reflection and personal transformation for the viewer.
LJ Cavenaugh Abstracting Reality I will explore Ming Smith, Ann Hamilton, and Mirsolaw Balkas ability to abstract reality through mediums that intend to reflect and re-create what we assume to be our reality.
